Privacy Policy

TradeWise ("TradeWise," "we," "us," or "our") provides trading analytics, journaling, and behavioral insight tools. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

1. Eligibility

TradeWise is intended only for users who are 18 years of age or older. Because TradeWise connects to brokerage accounts and provides analysis of trading activity, we do not offer the service to anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe someone under 18 has provided us data, contact us so we can remove it.

2. Data We Collect

We collect the following to provide our services:

  • Account Information: Email address, name (optional), and password (stored in hashed form — see Security).
  • Trading Data: Entry/exit prices, position sizes, asset names, trade dates, profit/loss, trade direction (long/short), position side, timeframes, and notes. This data may be imported by you (e.g., via CSV) or synced from your brokerage through our broker-connection provider (see Third Parties).
  • Journal Entries: Your written explanations, uploaded chart images, and personal trading reflections.
  • Alert Preferences: Risk-management rules and notification settings you configure.
  • Billing Information: When you subscribe, payment is processed by our payment provider (Stripe). We do not store your full payment card details; Stripe handles card data under its own privacy and security terms.

3. How We Use Your Data

We use your data to provide the following services:

  • Analytics & Insights: Calculate P&L, win rates, profit factors, average risk/reward, and other performance metrics.
  • AI Analysis ("Trading Archetype" and insights): Analyze your overall trade history — including both your strengths/edges and your recurring mistakes or behavioral patterns — to generate your Trading Archetype, behavioral insights, and suggestions about your own past trading. These outputs describe patterns in your own data and are for informational purposes only; they are not financial or investment advice.
  • Risk Alerts: Monitor your trades against your configured alert rules and send notifications.
  • Journal Analysis: Provide AI-generated insights based on your journal entries to help you understand your trading behavior.
  • Service Operation & Billing: Operate, maintain, secure, and improve the service, and manage your subscription.

4. Data Sharing & Third Parties

We do not sell or rent your personal data, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

We share data with the following service providers strictly to operate TradeWise:

  • Brokerage Connection (SnapTrade): If you choose to connect a brokerage account, that connection is facilitated by SnapTrade. SnapTrade accesses and transmits your brokerage activity to TradeWise to enable automatic trade syncing. SnapTrade processes data under its own terms and privacy policy. If you prefer not to use SnapTrade, you can instead import your trades manually via CSV.
  • AI Processing (Anthropic): To generate your Trading Archetype, pattern analysis, and journal insights, your trading data and journal entries are processed by Anthropic (Claude) via its API. Anthropic processes this data to return analysis to us. We use Anthropic's API under terms that do not permit your data to be used to train its models.
  • Payments (Stripe): Subscription payments are processed by Stripe, which handles your payment information under its own privacy and security terms.
  • Infrastructure: We use standard hosting and database infrastructure to operate the service.

We may also disclose data if required by law, to enforce our terms, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of TradeWise or others.

5. Data Security

Your data is stored using industry-standard protections. Passwords are hashed using Argon2, data is transmitted over HTTPS, and we store data in access-controlled PostgreSQL databases. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.

6. Your Rights & Data Control

  • Access: You can view your data within the app at any time.
  • Deletion: You can delete your account and all associated data from the Settings screen. This action is permanent and cannot be undone (see Retention).
  • Withdrawal of Consent: You can stop using the app at any time. Deleting your account removes your data from our systems.
  • Data Export: You can request a copy of your data in a portable format by contacting us.
  • Disconnecting Your Broker: You can disconnect a linked brokerage at any time to stop further syncing.

Depending on where you live (for example, the EU/UK under GDPR or California under CCPA/CPRA), you may have additional rights, such as the right to object to or restrict certain processing, or to lodge a complaint with a regulator. Contact us to exercise these rights.

7. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, your data (trades, journal entries, alerts, generated patterns) is permanently deleted from our databases within 30 days, except where we are required to retain certain records to comply with legal obligations.

8. International Users

If you access TradeWise from outside the country where our servers are located, your data may be transferred to and processed in other countries. By using the service, you understand your data may be processed where our service providers operate.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will indicate changes by updating the "Last Updated" date above, and will provide additional notice for significant changes where appropriate.
